Its Fate is in YOUR Hands!
On the old Pellman World site we maintained a Pellman Registry that listed only a handful of Pellmans and usually displayed out-of-date information about them. It was only used by those Pellmans who were brave enough to post their names, addresses, and email information on a public website that was readily accessible to spammers and hackers.
This feature has not been included on the new Pellman World site. Since it was not popular before, and presented inherent privacy risks to its users, we decided to try something different on the new Pellman World site. So, instead of a public registry of Pellmans, we are considering a couple of alternatives:
- A member listing in the Pellman World Discussion Board that would be accessible only to registered users. The type of information displayed on the member listing would be controlled by the users, so you could choose not to participate at all or to strictly limit the type of information other registered users could view. Spammers would have to register in order to acquire that information, and that’s something spammers rarely do.
- A password-protected registry that could be viewed only by members of the registry and only after entering their password. This would allow administrators to restrict access only to known Pellmans, which would provide an even higher – but perhaps unnecessarily high – level of protection of the information in the registry.
- Eliminate the registry altogether. We have a Pellman World group on Facebook, so Pellmans who want to stay in touch can connect that way already.
Please take a few moments and email us with the alternative you prefer. We will implement the alternative preferred by the majority of respondents.
