| Robert "Bob" Pellman was born in San Diego, California. He attended Florence Elementary School, Roosevelt Junior High School, and graduated from San Diego High School in 1942. As a youngster, he gravitated toward his father's work as an automotive mechanic. Prior to enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps, he helped his father convert the family automobile to run on propane gas, so they would not be subject to wartime gasoline rationing. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 19?? and rose to the rank of Lance Corporal. He served as part of the occupation force in Japan, stationed in ???????????. | |||
